After 6 Weeks attending the gym 3 times per week I have lost 4cm on my thigh, 1cm on chest, waist and hip and gain 2.5cm on my Biceps.

I am now going to go more than 3 times a week and on the fourth day I will be doing just cardio a little bit of chest work and core workouts. So that I do not strain myself. Else I would just do some cardio for 30-40 min and hit back home.

But I have gain 2-3 KG, I am a bit worried, but I believe I would need to do some more cardio to burn more fat than building more muscles. So I will lay off some of the weight training for a few weeks and carry on with more cardio.

The results of the 6 weeks at the gym paid off but only now that I can see changes. My work stress is going away, my fitness level improve, I can now run faster, longer without running out of breath. Heart rate decreased a little bit as certain activities. I can run up the stairs without having trouble talking or running out of breath.

My muscles are now more tender and harder. It seems that I have lost quite a lot of fat around my calf, and I cannot see much change on the upper body except from the chest. As now I can feel a tad more muscles on the chest and my man boobs decreased.

I think I am sort of addicted to the gym as I feel really bad mentally and physically if I miss a day. By feeling bad I mean I feel like shit and stressed out. My confidence improved since I joined and I like it, I use to be shy while talking but now I can talk to anyone without thinking twice. But I still have to improve my speech as I sometimes forget what I am talking about as I talk to fast. Well that’s another issue to sort out.

Recently I started doing some Yoga to help myself burn, tone up and increase my breathing on resting days. They are perfect to kill the soars inbetween days.
I am now thinking of doing them on the days of exercise as it does stretch out your body and makes it flexible.
I quite like it as it makes me concentrate and calm.

Last week I joined a gym for the first time. It took me a few weeks to get into the mood to go for it and when I had the chance I took it like that without thinking back.

I joined my local fitness First in Harrow, when I walked in it was quite quiet as there were only 10ish people working in there. I walked to the counter and asked to join them. The lady at the reception let me in and I was greeted by a personal trainer. She showed me around quickly and got me to sign up, I took probably 20min to fill a simple form as I read through the contract thoroughly. It didn’t seem so bad. As this was the first time I joined and I never tried it I took the shortest contract term which cost £1.50 more than a 12 month contract. So I ended up paying £41.00 for a platinum card which allows me to access any fitness first gym, which is around £58.00 if you paid full price. I paid the discounted price as I am a student.

Once I signed up I got given an appointment for an induction. At the induction, it felt really short and not a lot of details were given to help you started like recommendation on which machine to use for starters. The instructor just showed us how to use the machine and how to find our way around.

After that I went around for one hour trying all sorts of machines to get myself used to it. The atmostphere was not what I thought it was. It was actually a great atmosphere, the gym users were actually helpful. One girl showed me how to use one of the machines where the instruction was ripped off. And also no one stares at you if you are overweight, they actually don’t really care how you look as they are concentrated on themselves.

The personal trainers on the other hands are not to helpful when they are not doing anything as they just congregate and talk to each other. But once a while they walk around to see if the people they inducted needed some personal training or extra help.

The first week I just got used to all the machines and the new environment.

Some cool info
In fitness first they give out free drinks, the choice are none branded coke, fizzy drinks and still orange juice.

The locker room are awesome, they have those RFI card readers which locks and open when you swipe your gym card on them.

…

I will be back in a few days to talk about my first week in details.

Its 2008, and this year its time for change, big change.
2007 was good but I didn’t achieve any of my resolution which was to prepare for all my exams and coursework well before the deadline. That didn’t turn out well.
This year I have taken that resolution on board again but now I’ve started to work on it.
My other New Year resolution is to join a gym and to start toning up.

This blog
In this new blog I will be posting my updates, achievement and things that are happening around my life.
This blog is a totally new blog from my development and design blog; I hope this is only for the personal stuff.
